Where to find cheap reliable seat clamp?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Where to find cheap reliable seat clamp?

For A small piece and forged metal with a hole for screws and some paint, how much could that cost? Or so I thought when my bike shop quoted me 40$. I will just get one myself.
Sure enough, when I search online, all I see is ~30$. Is there not a no frizzle clamp that just get the job done?
I need size 30.0 mm for 27.2mm seatpost

Sure you don't need a 31.8 for a 27.2 post? If so there are tons to choose from on eBay.

This one is $12 including shipping in the size you requested. You might even find cheaper if you look harder.

I do wish it's 31.8mm also but my bike spec says 30.0mm collar.

Nice find, wish they weren't based in Hawaii though. And harder i will look. The only reason for this price is there are so few of us buying these things aftermarket. Ridiculous.

Oh ok. A place like universalcycles or jensonusa.com should have something that works in that size. Those places are good for occasional oddball parts sometimes.

I think OP may be mistaken on the size he needs.

From OP:
I need size 30.0 mm for 27.2mm seatpost

From the Amazon page (which offers two size options) :

  • For 25.4mm/ 27.2mm Seatpost
  • 28.6mm clamps fit 25.4mm seatposts; 31.8mm clamps fit 27.2 seatposts

Your current clamp should have a size written on it somewhere. Alloy BMX clamps are a good bet. I have a cheap Haro on my road bike- clamps like a champ
