Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Repacked a cup-n-cone BB today. No torque wrench was utilized.

Was surprised by the loose-ball nature. Entry level 1992 Yokota MTB, so I fully expected caged bearings.

The balls were mostly grease-free and I was working on the bike upside down, so I was extremely lucky that no balls entered the seattube or downtube upon pulling the spindle.

No lockring spanner to be found, so I had to break out the universal tool:

Billy, any idea why my photos aren't showing up quotations of my posts? Only an attachment number, no picture. Picture shows up fine in my post. Thanks.

I went for a ride today in the rain. I got wet. I didn't melt. Think I should start a thread about it?

I looked at a side job this morning. After finishing I stopped at a bike shop local to the area. They had two Seven bicycle cycles in the shop.

I like the balanced look of the bike. What is the final "showroom" weight? I ask because I am trying to avoid the stupidity of others in that thread of yours.

I started looking through the employment listings today. There seem to be a few around worth applying for. At least I am in a strong position, being in a job now, even though I am over it, and looking at the same time... I won't appear desperate.

if you didnt have disc brakes, did it even count?

these are very important questions and the internet must be mined for data.

Excellent point. I believe that rides in the rain without disc brakes do not count.

In the Giant bike line, the Defy is the "Endurance" or more upright version of their performance road bike.

I have two questions.

In the Cannondale line is that geometry the Synapse?

In the Specialized line is that geometry the Roubaix?

Okay, three questions...

If I am incorrect on either of those, what is the "endurance'' geometry for each of those.

I'm feeling lazy this afternoon.

Besides, the lovely Mrs. Doug28450 wants to go out to dinner and I'm focusing on a nice place to take her.

No, she's not looking over my shoulder.
