Nothing in particular, just that I think that in general, people are more accepting today of a grown man riding a bike on the road with colored spandex then they were back in the late 80s, especially in certain parts of our country...although I would also argue that some parts haven't really changed all that much either, lol. Also, if Eurobike and Interbike are any indication, the fluorescent/neon fad is coming back in, so it will be like the late 80s once again! Except with less steel bikes, apparently

i got the venturi frameset and built it into something light and sweet. i've ridden carbon and aluminum and they're part of the arsenal of bikes at my disposal. at 16.25lb, it isn't the lightest thing i ride, but as an everyday bike, it's spectacular; smooth over just about anything. found it's limitation for me on an 18% wall, just a bit flexy in the back end. i'd suspect most here wouldn't come close to reaching its limit.

That wasn't much of a revival of the Breezer classics Venturi and Lightning, just three model years. They were cool bikes, particularly the Venturi, but apparently they just didn't find traction in the market.
Oh well...I wonder if Venturi will be remebered as a spark that revived a movement, as just an outlier, or not at all? Probably the latter, if I'm being honest, but it's too bad that such a brilliant road machine should end in anonymity.

I alter my shorts to make them like that- All they seem to sell today are what we used to refer to as "Old-man Bermuda" shorts (In-fact, even they weren't as big and baggy as what people routinely wear today!)

I looked at the Venturi closely, but couldn't get past the geometry. A 15cm headtube on a 58? Who wants 10cm of spacers? --And no rack/fender mounts. Kills its versatility (and narrows its market) ...

Honestly, I had only ever heard of them on this forum. The paint jobs did leave a little bit to be desired for me. And before I bothered to look up their website after reading this post, I had zero idea that they even made anything other than road bikes, which they seem to not be making at all now.

What's old is new again. Every 20 something hipster in LA was wearing shorty shorts like that but i think its already out of style since kids attention span for trends is so short. Now overall jean shorts are back ala Kriss Kross from my high school days

You should read up on Joe Breeze! He's a pioneer figure in the MTB scene, and a great transportation cycling advocate, in addition to being a smart, down-to-Earth guy who knows how to make cool bikes. I really like how heritage is a key concept to him, for example in the way the paint job and logo on the bike pictured up thread draws on design elements of the first Schwinn's that Joe modded for the Mt. Tam races.

True, but Giant's aggressive road bike has an 18.5 cm head tube for the similar size (L). The 15 cm head tube is spec'ed on the M (54).

I suspect, and would hope, that Joe's head tube spec was driven by performance, handling, application, and rider considerations rather than considering length relative to other manufacturers.
