I have had lots of problems here. Hitting the back arrow for one is essentially useless unless you hit it several times rapidly. Trying to scroll down results in spasms of jumps down the page. I don't have these problems on any other site. And, I'm on several.

I have the same problem as the OP...I think it happens more when I quote someone. Typing this post was normal.

Have you tried ceramic keyboard? I heard they are faster.

When something like what you described happens, it really could be a whole bunch of reasons, and without knowing the OS (Windows/OS X/Linux/...) and browser (IE/Chrom/Firefox/Safari/...), it's very hard to even guess. Most of the times, there is "runaway" process - computer term meaning something is not supposed to be running but is - that's taking away the computer's CPU; it could be a Flash plug-in which is notorious for this kind of thing historically or some Java background app.

If you are running Windows, do the alt-control-delete thing and go to task manager and see if there are some processes that's not supposed to be there (assume you know what's supposed to be there in the first place). And you could do the same with Activity Monitor on OS X.

I encounter the same issue when doing a quick reply, but if I go to the advanced reply it works fine. I'm running IE11. Maybe that's the issue

I haven't seen any since installing Adblock Plus.

I see it often. ON Win 7 using Chrome, IE or firefox. I think it is how they implemented ads. Might be the only solution, unless BF comes on here, is to run the adblock suggested.


I wouldn't expect an Intel i7 Extreme with 32 Gig ram, SSD and a water cooled processor overclocked to 4.5 Ghz and capable of 150 frames per second with a full physics engine running to be the problem but I see it on there too when on this site

I do experience slow typing sometimes but not real often. Often times though, I'll type up a reply to a post, hit "post reply" and it'll ask me to log back in to post it even though I was already logged in. Not a big deal but nonetheless annoying.

It's never the hardware, always the crappy software offered up these days by Microsoft/Google/Apple/Garmin/Adobe/et al. The art of writing efficient software is lost on the new generation of glueware developers. Most of the browsers are bloated and very CPU-intensive, and neither Windows or OS X is getting slimmer either. No amount of RAM/water-cooling is gonna fix that. What's the adage again? Software is a gas, it expands to fill its container.

I too have this problem on this forum. I have Windows 7 and a fast processor, lots of RAM.
Any computer wizards know why this is?

There are lots of technical problems here. I can't edit a post without first refreshing the page. If I try without refreshing the page, I get into the post, change it, but it won't save. It just freezes.

And you can't delete a photo that was selected from your on-computer pictures once it has been posted. It moves to some bizarre "thumbnail" setup that I absolutely can't understand.

And if I try to enlarge a photo by double clicking on it before first saving the post it is in, the computer hangs up. I have to save the post, then go back in and edit it...after refreshing the page of course.

It almost seems like a game designed to aggravate forum members. Wait, maybe that's it.

Yes but it seems to be intermittent. It's like half of the letters don't show up and you have to keep editing.
It also seems worse with a quick reply. The advanced reply options seems to have less issues.

This forum, along with many others, is probably based on some open-source software and typically uses some form of AJAX (asynchronous JavaScript and XML). That is to say there are lot of things going on in the background when loading a web page (that's where the asynchronous part comes in). Depending on how well the software is designed, sometimes things may load in the wrong order or get hung-up, and that's where some of the weird behaviors occur. I doubt there is much to be done at this point other than going to a newer/more robust forum platform, but that would require time and resources. I doubt BF wants to do that.

I have the exact same problem. Good to know it isn't specific to my computer. Its the only forum this happens on btw. Odd dynamic.
As to lethargic typing...doesn't seem to happen all the time. For example, for this post...typing is perfect. Other times...creating a post is very difficult which is quite weird.

My 2014 iMac runs flawlessly. My Optimum internet provider is my only weak link and occasional problem.

For those of you experiencing the same problem – delayed keyboard responses when responding to a post:
I am going to try the following: Run a Malware scan until clean. Then restore my browser to its original settings. I will let you know if it works.
On a different machine I just had a malware problem that resulted in redirects when clicking certain links on a single specific web page. It did not affect any other web pages. Running a malware scan identified and cleaned the machine – but the problem persisted with the one page. Resetting the browser corrected the problem. Resetting your browser will have consequences – all of you links, favorites, saved pwds, etc will disappear, but it may clear the issue. I will take one for the team and try it and let you know if it fixes the issue. It has been nice knowing you all if I don’t make it through the process. J
Finally – it occurred to me that BF members regularly include links to media outside of BF and that it is very likely that one (or more) of these links dropped a bug on our machines. That could explain why multiple members have the issue.
Yes – I typed this in a word processing pgm and pasted it into the post, otherwise it would have taken a month to enter this post.
