I always assumed the GP 4 Season was that tire. I have a pair of GP4000S tires sitting in a box waiting for me to put them on something (bought them because I was ordering stuff from the UK and couldn't pass on the deal). I have 20k+ plus miles on multiple sets of GP 4 Seasons and have been happy with them getting around 6000 miles on a rear tire and only one puncture flat I can recall. Can anyone who has ridden both tires offer a comparison?

OP - The Conti Grand Prix tires are excellent. They're one small notch below the GP4000SII that everyone above is talking about. IMO, the GP4000SII is the best all around clincher ever produced.
I'd put their Grand Prix in this slot.

I recently picked up a pair of GP4KsII's after getting numerous flats on my Michelin Pro 4's. Been a long time since I used conti tires as they were always such as struggle to get on my rims. So I rode Michelin's and Vittoria's based on what I felt at the time. I have to say, after a few rides.....these tires were very nice. They went on my Boyd Altamont's without a struggle, so was very happy with that. Too early to say I would buy again, but so far, I have no complaints.

Bought a pair of folding 23X700 Gatorskins for general use and reliability. The ride on chip seal roads is pretty horrible. Don't think I can make babies anymore. And, the darn things are not bomb proof. Patched plenty of tubes, falllen victims of goathead thorns.
The "Made in Germany" stencil is pretty cool though.

Rode Spesh Armadillo 23's for many years. Then came on the forum and it was all "Conti" so bought a set of GP4000. Bought a new bike that came with Grand Prix so the GP4000 were next to new until recently wore out the rear Grand Prix and the front had a sidewall cut so I replaced them both with the GP4000. I find the GP4000 is susceptible to flatting. Looking at the tread there are many places where stuff has gone through it (not all resulted in flats but way more than on the armadillos, that's for sure).

Up until that point though, they were very reliable.
