Tubs can be run at a higher pressure with out the discomfort you'd feel on clinchers. Both wheelsets had equal pressure when being tested.

I believe them. Except for the notion that the loop means eliminating the wind variable (which is wrong), and I'd like to see his test repeated a few times, it seemed pretty solid.

Are all Average Watts equal? Eg. Does 500 watts up a 10% grade and 200 watts down same length 10% grade yield the same speed over this distance as 200 watts up the hill and 500 watts down the hill (thinking of wind resistance effects etc)?

This tells me that the hassle of tubulars aren't worth it to me because the benefit isn't there or is small enough not to bother with. But, I knew that before the video.

Agreed. For a field test like this a few wind meters at key locations as per the geography would go a long ways towards solidifying such a test's results.

Although it appears they eliminated as many variable as possible, these trials need to be repeated more than just a few times. What if it showed clinchers were faster for one trial, then shows the tubulars were faster the next trial. Which one is correct? You need to replicate many times and do the statistical analysis to show if there is a significant difference. Otherwise, just an observation that someone else might find just the opposite results.

What they should do is put a tubular on the front and a clincher on the rear and test it that way then switch it around. Which ever crosses the line must be faster. That should work, right? I can't imagine what might happen if there is a that much of a difference. Would one end of the bike catch up with the other end or get left in the dust?

They didn't even use latex tubes on the clinchers which would have reduced the rolling resistance by about 10%.

Some told me weight of wheels while climbing is a huge factor espacially on tires and rim weight. Clinchers are 316g heavier yet still faster? Tubulars you are drunk!
