Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

My LBS already has a mini-group... FD/RD and levers.

I admit I am a SRAMophile. I have previously had no interest in electronic shifting. Etap definitely has caught my interest.

The mini-groupset is shifters, derailleurs, and charging unit for MSRP of$1660.

MSRP is $1660, but your shop might sell it for less.

Dealer cost from QBP is very close to $1100,

That's my hope too. I want to retrofit a mech bike to this. Looks really easy to set up. But, so far it's still a unicorn until it shows up as a real production unit.

Intriguing. Maybe my next electronic shifting will be this... but kind of invested in 2 DI2 11 speed and 1 DI2 10 speed already in my family. Not sure if adding another in mix is good idea.

Why not? Neither of those two systems are compatible with each other either. All the cassettes, cranks and chains are compatible (at a given number of speeds).

I just woke up, is this the same company that wants me to hit a button twice to shift?

I rode E-Tap yesterday and really liked it. The shifting is very intuitive and easy to get used to. The best part maybe is that install time is literally under 10 minutes for the shifters and deraileurs. Spoke to a SRAM insider who says it will be quite a while until we see a mini group available at least until SRAM is all caught up supplying the oem side.

Still technically a "prototype" but what i saw was a production model.
I have two friends who have it. The downside they say is Di2 shifts faster than e tap. For the $$ difference i think i rather go with Di2.

it's strange that you say that, because if you look at QBP's website, that's how they have it listed. Shifters, derailleurs, and charger for MSRP $1660.

maybe I misunderstood what you are saying.

I've heard they did that to extend batter life. And it's been suggested that they offer a firmware upgrade to reduce the time needed.

Both have their pros and cons, so pick the one that works best for you.

One of the things I like about eTap is the micro adjustments of the RD in 0.2mm intervals making fine tuning a breeze.

Stupid question incoming.

Being that it is wireless, am I correct in assuming that the frame doesn't need to have any sort special wire routing ie internal or di2 compatible? Can I throw these derailleurs onto any bike without issue?

that's important, because tuning Di2 is such a hassle.

Yes, they are not physically connected to the levers or each other.
