Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Lapierre USA Presence Growing

Just noticed Lapierre's new 2016 lineup, and they've brought a lot more from France!
Cycles Lapierre

Lapierre's lineup was something like BMC before. Wide range of what kind, but only starting at a higher price-point. Now they have value carbon, aluminum value roadie, women specific model, flat-bar roadie, etc...

I think it's great we're getting a large euro maker making their way over for competition as a shop's possible staple brand.

At my LBS of choice, there's a beautiful LaPierre bike...about $5,000.
Too rich for my blood, but I can dream.

If you got one, you could lend it to all your acquaintances and colleagues.

True. I mean, it's only a bike right? What's $5K among acquaintances?

I like the looks of them but the closest Lapierre dealer is just over 3 hours away from me and doesn't have any of the models I was thinking about. So a new Lapierre is not in my future.

I've never heard of any dealers here nor have I ever seen one for sale. But funny timing, this bike with 60 miles on it just popped up on CL today for $2400. Retail is $5500.

I had a Lapierre Aluminum FDJeux Team frame from 2004-2007. It was aluminum and still one of my favorite frames. I regret selling it. I think it was under 1200g for the frame (w/ derailleur hanger), which was pretty light for that time. Rode great. If I ever find that frame in my size, I'd buy it in a second and build it up for a 2nd bike.

Lapierre will be more common not only due to a price more can reach, but they will be distributing more. More LBS will be having them in shop.

I have the previous Xelius (remake this year), and it's by far my favorite frame. Great fit with an effective frame size between 56-58cm, and it's got an amazing balance in handling! Tracks like on a rail, not at all twitching, and so stable you can ride without hands easily.

Let's do a Where's Waldo type of contest.. How many lapierre logos do you calculate this bike to have?

They're Redline & Diamondback as well. Doesn't include some Dick's Sporting Goods Diamondbacks.

That looks like the one at my LBS for $5K! ...except for the white handle bar tape.

Good price...even after you replace that clown seat. My buddy loves his. Says it is so stiff, it takes off like a rocket. Just repeating his foolishness; don't blame it on me.

Lapiere is a quality bike but they don't excite me. I would love to see Canyon in the states though. We have a Raleigh dealer one town over that carries Lapierre. They have not caught on yet as I rarely see one.

I'll go first.. I think 14 is the answer, though maybe 15 if there's one on the rear seatstay bridge as well.

Surely a fourth thread would be in order to discuss the lending experience. But you knew that!

I was informed by Texas Cyclesport that LaPierre has moved to Canada and is no longer doing business in the US, because most of their sales were north of the border.
