Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I am 5'6"-5'7" and 140lbs and have found Pactimo to be a great fit. I own a Castelli jacket that fits really well so I am going to try a jersey as well. I wear medium from Pactimo and its form fitting but not super tight, in other words nko flapping material but not confining either. I suspect the same from Castelli. I have some other jerseys like Primal Wear that fit a little loosed but not bad.most stuff I feel like I am in between sizes.

I doubt it would be hard to find one that fits the way you want, and they're fairly cheap. The way I look at cycling clothes is they're going to wear out quickly or get crashed and destroyed, so as long as they're comfortable and don't look like hell, cheap is fine.
I agree with you when it comes to jerseys. I try to pay under $50 for them. I think that shorts are different. I have two pairs of Belweather shorts. They don't hold up well and are not as comfortable as my Assos or PI elites. I do like Performance Ultras but I digress. I will pay for Assos shorts but not their jerseys. I actually like Bontrager jerseys from my lbs.

I love the obsession over the fit of a bike jersey
It is important though so please continue.
Getting the correct polyester jersey in the correct fit is probably the single most important decision a cyclist could ever make.
Other than which brand of water bottle to use of course...

I hope you're being sarcastic - clothing fit is one of the most important aspects of comfortable riding, right behind a good bike/saddle fit.

OP - I'm 5'7, 125lb's so I feel your pain. XS "Aero Race" cut stuff from Castelli has been awesome, but by far the best non-team stuff I own in terms of fit is Rapha. Their pro race jersey's in XS and pro team bibs in XS are perfect. The club/classic stuff gets a little baggy.

I have way too many jerseys, so they don't get worn out as fast. Unfortunately, I did crash one of my favorite jerseys recently but it's going to the tailor to get patched.

Rapha has free lifetime repairs for clothing you buy from them, just send it to them and they'll patch it up if possible -- there are some things that excluded though, like baselayers and warmers.

mind if I ask your chest size? I'm 5'7-8, 120lbs, but an XS on Rapha feels too snug and the breathing is uncomfy

My experience is completely different from yours. I just got an XL Hemisphere Gilet.

I'm 5' 8", 190 lbs with a 16.5 neck. Morvelo says the XL is 18-20 neck and there is no way that is true. The claim that it is 41-43 chest is barely true. The garment fits tight, especially restrictive around the arm pits, to the point where I'm thinking of sending it back. Their garments. at least the one I have, are not cut for anyone with muscles at all.

So, basically cut for cyclists.

I would second the suggestion of the Rapha Pro Team line of jerseys. I have one and it's the nicest jersey I've ever worn, period. Amazing in the hottest of weather here in Texas and does really well in cool weather with a light wool base layer. I'm glad someone was able to chime in with sizing specifics on that one as I'm on the other side of the spectrum.
