How do I reset an HAC4?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

How do I reset an HAC4?

A few days ago I discovered that something in the room where we hang our bikes (computer, TV, DVD?) was adding miles on the HAC4 computer installed on my bike. I think I can avoid this in the future by taking the computer off of the bike mount when I'm not riding so that the computer is no longer in "bike" mode.

When I decided I wanted to reset the total milage, total time, and total altitude settings on the computer and check the (useless) instructions to find how I would do that, I discovered that this function is not covered in the, er, documentation. I've taken the battery out over night and this still will not "zero out" the cummulative numbers.

Does anyone know how this is done? Does it require the PC interface kit?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Does it have an AC/ all clear button on the back? I would think this would clear everything.

Nope. It is a most peculiar design. There is no specific clear button. There may be a sequence of inputs with the usual control buttons, but that sequence is not detailed in the documentation.

If removing the battery did not zero out everything then there is something wrong with your HAC. Call Veltec and they will issue you an RO # and either fix it or replace it. They are very good about getting it done in a timely manner.
