Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Just one of those things that wouldn't have happened if you obeyed the same rules as motor vehicles. Bicycles are considered motor vehicles in many states. Which state are you in?

What state do you live in, OP, the state of grace. A bike in the roadway is a vehicle just about everywhere.

And just in case you live in Colorado, a bike is not a pedestrian there either. Here are two excerpts from the Colorado Bicycling Manual, https://www.codot.gov/programs/bikep...bikemanual.pdf

"A bicyclist in Colorado has all the rights and responsibilities applicable to the driver of any other vehicle. That means bicyclists must obey the rules of the road like other drivers, and are to be treated as equal users of the road. Bicyclists, like vehicle drivers, can be ticketed or penalized for not obeying the laws."

"In Colorado, motorists and bicyclists share the road. Both have equal rights and responsibilities to obey all traffic laws.

Bicycle drivers who violate traffic laws will be subject to the same penalties as drivers of motor vehicles, except that no penalty points shall be assessed against the bicyclist’s driver’s license."

How do you think of all the BS you spout? It is truly a gift.

Fwiw, I t-boned a car many years ago on my steel frame, at 25-ish mph going down a hill. Minor cut under my chin and no bike damage.
Lucky.

This is weird. I was sure I saw Denver as the location in the margin of his last post. Turns out it was Chandne and his need for disc brakes. No matter.

Yes. You should believe that most people have a hard time doing 30 mph on a bicycle. 30 mph on a bicycle is very difficult to attain, let alone sustain, for any length of time. I completed the 2015 Tour De Cure at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. 40 laps around the 2.5 mile oval. Achieved 27 mph on the front straight with the wind at my back. I was passed by several groups of elite team cyclists maybe averaging 35 mph for the entire circuit. I am sure several people at the ride completed the entire century in less than 5 hours. Based on the pictures you posted of your injuries, I seriously doubt you were traveling anywhere near 30 mph on your bicycle at the time of the collision. Another thing...the entire incident was your fault. Please sell the bicycle and start taking public transportation. I do not want to read a bunch of made - up crapola here on the forum. If I want that, I will read the Star or Enquirer...

30 yrs ago I was T-boned by a cyclist who blew a stop sign at the bottom of a hill. $300 damage to my car and a broken collarbone for the cyclist. I drove him and his bike home but don't recall what condition his bike was in.

Yaw cuz we all know motorists always do what [they're] suppose to do and NEVER do anything wrong.

Hang out in traffic court any given night in one of the 400 surrounding municipalities.
