Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It's time. THE Jinx Thread. Or how many flats did you get this year?

As I look back over my cycling year this New Year's Eve, it occurs to me that I haven't spent much time by the side of the road fixing flats.

Just one on the road bike. Two on the cyclocross bike - I need to get some pit wheels.

Fingers crossed for 2016.

Three flats. And two broken spokes, both rear, different wheels.

Oh is that for another thread?

1 in about 2500 miles. Which was probably 5000+ miles between flats running light weight clinchers with no added flat protection

I did not have one this year or last year. Pretty fortunate in that regard. I wish that I could say the same for my vehicles tires. Every time they build a new house on our street it is just a matter of time. 3x's on my wifes car, 1 on the SUV and 2 on the golf cart. None on the bike though, which is probably more of a pain anyway.

This thread is for flats only.

Please remove the part about broken spokes. Start a new thread for broken spokes.

Thank you.

If I was living back home in DFW my last flat would have probably been yesterday.

Golf cart flats?

Is that a Florida thing?

This year, 0 out on rides, 2 while sitting in the garage. The garage flats were from a slipped rim tape.

3 or 4.

Worst part? I know exactly where the "hot spots" are for flatting, and certain sections of town I just grit my teeth.

Put on a set of Tufo's with Stans last night. New Years resolution of sorts.

$70.00 a flat is getting old.

Got home from a ride and found the above in the tire.
Removed it and the air came out.

had 3 pieces of this stuck in there. 1 though the cords did the damage.

One slow leak on the front - a thin steel wire stuck on the tyre and made a tiny puncture of the tube. Fixed it at home. Leak was so slow I wasn't sure whether it was a valve, or a poor quality tube - on 28 mm tyres pressure dropped from 7 to 5 bars within a week - if there wasn't the rear tyre to compare, I wouldn't even think it's a puncture.

No road flats at all!

I did have a tire let go at my office due to age (looked good to me! ) but that was it...

Two flats this year. One was a pinch since I didn't check the tire pressure before leaving and he second was a slow leak from a thorn that made it at an angle that my tire liner didn't catch.

Zero over the last two years in 6000 miles of riding. I'm on tubulars with sealant. Since I've done that 7 years ago, its' between 0 and 1 flats per year.

I didn't have any this year, except for repairing a couple of glue-less patches that I had laying around for some reason.

Now I've done it, I can never resist tempting fate
