December was good ... let's do it again in January! Burning off those Christmas calories ... getting ready for upcoming events ...

Jan 1 - First bicycle ride of the New Year!! 38.4 km (120 min) ... should be almost enough to burn off all the cinnamon rolls I made and ate.

Jan 2 - 52.06 km (160 min) with 613 metres of climbing. Plus wind. Plus ... surprisingly chilly. My feet were quite cold when I got in. Plus 0.6 km walk (7 min) to get shortbread cookie making supplies.

Jan 3 - 32.8 km (100 min)!! And that brings 8 days in a row of cycling to an end. I was kind of hoping to do a flat route, and the first 20 km wasn't too bad, but then it got hilly. Oh well, I'm starting to get used to that. Plus 1 km walk (12 min).

Jan 4 - 2.2 km (25 min) walking + 25 flights of stairs (20 min)

Jan 5 - 2.9 km (35 min) walking + 35 flights of stairs (28 min)

I'm enjoying the Strava group. I'm a little behind right now but that should change. I hope yoga counts since I'm putting my practice in Strava as well. (I had deleted my sessions in December because I thought they didn't count.)

This January has been my highest volume month in at least the last two years. I started bike commuting mid-month when one of our cars was out, and am going trying to stick with it.

Month to date: 47.5h (~half from commuting), 630mi (~160 commuting).

I expect probably another 8 hours and 100mi by the end of the month

Jan 1 - First bicycle ride of the New Year!! 38.4 km (120 min) ... should be almost enough to burn off all the cinnamon rolls I made and ate.

Jan 2 - 52.06 km (160 min) with 613 metres of climbing. Plus wind. Plus ... surprisingly chilly. My feet were quite cold when I got in. Plus 0.6 km walk (7 min) to get shortbread cookie making supplies.

Jan 3 - 32.8 km (100 min)!! And that brings 8 days in a row of cycling to an end. I was kind of hoping to do a flat route, and the first 20 km wasn't too bad, but then it got hilly. Oh well, I'm starting to get used to that. Plus 1 km walk (12 min).

My Januarys have never been particularly brilliant in terms of cycling distance, but this January was the best one I've had since I started cycling "seriously" in 1990!! I beat my previous PB by 65 km. I wasn't even thinking about doing that ... just trying to cycle as much as I could in preparation for that 200K.
