Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I would like the all black wheels for my next build.

26.0 3T Motus. Needed the opening clamp design to fit Nitto M106 bars, my favorites. Buy nos with fitting instructions. Used you don't know if the bars were clamped correct and it's critical with this stem or it could fail.

That Cherubim 921 bike is showin' out! It's a really interesting mix of high-tech and old school, and with the most shaping of any SS frame I've seen. I rather dislike the "swayback" seatstays, but they're neat to see rendered in SS. Even the seatpost is trick, with that "umbrella handle" curve like the late AC post.

I have to agree with you about the seat stays; they look contrived.

I also think there is a recall on the ENVE 2.0 disc brake forks issued February 18.

Still, it sure does look hot.

My only problem with it is that I don't really like the modern Reynolds stickers. That's probably sacrilege, but I said it.

This thread is potentially deadly to my bank account, especially since I'm thinking of rekitting my current road bike, which would leave me with a DA 9-sp group to do something with. n+1?

You've posted this rig before and I love it more each time. Perfectly done and looks like a blast to ride.

You should have skipped the last photo - it looked pretty slick up to that point.
By the way, were you the photographer? Very nice photos.

How far have steel bikes come since 1995? Maybe stiffer, I wouldn't call that an improvement seeing as there not elite race bikes but I do like the tapered headtubes on modern bikes. My 95 EL bike is only 85g heavier than this Cherubim.

I'm not personally a fan of deep wheels on steel bikes but in this case I luv it.

Now that's a gorgeous bike. Love the work on the lugs, makes it retro looking and modern mix. Thanks for sharing

I mentioned Jaegher bikes quite a few pages back. I just noticed this review from late January. Good to see a full review vs. just snippets from a few online posts. I'm thinking it may be my next major purchase, but that's probably about 5 years away so I should change my mine at least 50 times by then.

That Cheribum is too nice, and it should be as it would run you about $5500 when all is said and done.
It did answer something I always was wondering though; are there still steel bike builders in Japan? A project I'd like to do is put together an all Japanese build one day, with a nice Shimano groupset. Though I'd prefer Tange tubing, to keep it completely Japanese.
