Tubular tire choice of 41
My Veloflex Arenbergs are about to be done so looking to replace with something good but less pricy for my recreational riding (not racing): so a good balance of low rolling resistance, puncture protection, and durability.
What's the consensus of 41?

By done do you mean worn out? I have 4 new ones here. I think they are great, but not used. Tread looks thin. We have lots of glass and thorns locally.
I think going with a big profile, not as nice as yours the Champion PR were good last year and there were blow-out prices <$40 but I don't see those deals now. The tread was coming off later, but no flats.
The Veloflex line (as you know) makes great stuff. Use their carbons. Conti's GP and Sprinters are more durable and don't ride quite as nice.

I'm on Vredstein tri-comps currently.
Been very happy with their clinchers.
Have some Tufo S33s to try. they look very sturdy if not so supple.

I'm happy with my Vittoria Corsa CXs. Except for the damn super permeable latex tubes. They hardly hold rideable pressure for even a few hours. Had one tiny puncture that Pit Stop fixed right up. No tire change necessary. And they seem to work quite well for me with Tufo mounting tape. Very secure.

I've been riding all of the Tufo 25c tires. They have a new one (don't remember the name off hand) that is really nice. They also, being tubeless, work great with sealant. I never flat.

I like Vittorias. I only race tubulars, so never kept track of mileage. Continentals underwhelm me.

I glue hundreds of tubulars every year. I buy direct OEM and in bulk. I love Vittoria for racing but they are super easy to cut blah blah blah. Nice tire. Supple casing. I like the wet traction but a ton of my racers (pros) don't like the wet weather traction. Too thin for racing in the corsa series.
Continental makes a greatly rideable all around tire in the GP 4000 tubular. I am not a fan of how they feel but they are long wearing and have good puncture resistance.
...now...
I switched ALL of my riders over to Clement LGG last year. They may not be as upper crust as your Veloflex but....they last like you wouldn't believe and the tubeless construction allow you to use sealant with supreme results. The wet traction is so much better that I have watched pros actually argue over who was going to ride the set of Clements over the Vittorias. The one on Vittorias ended up hitting the deck too.
Seriously...worth the money as they last like you wouldn't believe. Still have a race feel.

I am not familiar with Clement LGG , but will look for them next time.
I loved Clement in the old days.

Have used Conti Sprinters but they never rolled very true or round in my experience. I have been using Tufo Elite 700 x 25 for some time now and find them to be really supple and comfortable. I have used their carbon compound tires as well. Good mileage but not nearly as comfortable as their Elite 25's.

I've been using the Vittoria Corsa Elite in 25mm. About 70 shipped for the pair from Ribble.
They are fairly easy to stretch and mount. Rides better than the Conti Gatoskins and Sprinters.

Vittoria Corsa CX 23 on front
Vittoria Pave 25 back
excellent feel and durable
wet traction is great when they are new, but once the tiny file tread wears off I do get some slip on rear wheel when sprinting uphill on wet or dusty roads...
very interested to try the Vittoria corsa speed graphene

Going tire narrower than rim brings issues (not that you asked).

It's been re-invented over the last 5 years or so. I have been working with them from the first year I believe. Production is done for them by the Tufo factory but the tires are made to Clement's specs and materials. Definitely don't act like Tufo. The tubeless tubular though is phenomenal when it comes to saving the tubular after you've gotten a flat.

Thanks,
I was wondering if the Clement was simply a re-labeled Tufo.

How could you be happy with tires that don't hold air long enough for a good long ride? That would be a huge negative for me.
