Help: giro empire slx - do they stretch?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Help: giro empire slx - do they stretch?

So I got the giro empire slx and I love everything about it. Well... Almost everything.
When I tie them properly, it feels ok, just a tad thight in the toe box. I'm kinda worried that the one size larger would be too big and loose, and I like my shoes thight. If it stretched just a bit, I think it would be perfect. I'm worried to send it back and get a one size larger just to get back the original pair.

Thanks!

Lose the little toe. It doesn't really add anything but weight anyway. Tinsnips. Solved.

have you tried a ride with them yet? If they're a tad tight just walking around your living room, they'll be too tight after an hour or so in the saddle. That said, that's one of the advantages of laces.. you can loosen or tighten them up and down the shoe in order to customize the fit to some degree. I'm not sure what you meant by "when I tie them properly"?

That's why I like my shoes with separate velcro, and buckle at the ankle. Tight ankle, loose toes.

I have an earlier teijin version, not sure about the slx material. Mine do have a bit of stretch. Depends on the degree of toe touch, remember your feet can swell a bit too, especially in the hot months. That could turn slightly uncomfortable, to tortuous on a long hot ride. Can you leave them on and see how they feel after 1:00hr? That's what I've done with mail order bike shoes in the past-on carpet only in the house, obviously!
