Worth considering, or pass?

I don't need another bike to sit in my basement with two other bikes, but I'm still thinking about it. Surely you can understand.

I had that frame before. Never grow on it. It is not particularly light; plus the top tube sloping is huge...makes the bike looks like a woman bike IMO. The Record is nice though. Is the crankarm Record?

I don't so much care for the frame either. It's the Record that I'm interested in. The crankset is Record also. Ten speed shifters.

You could get a used chorus or record 11 speed group for $800 or less, if all you want is the group.

I bet if you buy a component from one seller another from another you'd probably get close to $800 though not sure how much.

Aren't many of the used variety around, and certainly not for $800. It'll probably be sold by the weekend anyway. And besides, I'd want to put that on an Italian frame. More $$$

You can probably dump the frame for $100.
That gets you down to $700.
The wheelset may be worth a couple hundred too.
So, overall it is probably not a bad deal if it is all in usable condition.
I had to pass on one on E-Bay the other day. It would have been a good deal, but just too beat up.

Anyway, so parting it out, you're probably well within the value of the parts. But, it is only worth the money if it is something that you can use.

You can buy the entire groupset new (with 11 speed) for $1000 (see Campagnolo Chorus 11 Speed Groupset | Chain Reaction Cycles)
I did this with my vintage build, only because a complete set of older components is next to impossible to find. Cost is similar to what the set would have cost back in the day, but it's a time consuming endeavour.

I'm trying to figure out the big difference between Record, Chorus, and Athena.
I think the Record brake levers are 100% CF, while the cheaper varieties (which one?) uses plastic levers with a CF laminate.
For personal use, the Athena is probably just fine. But, not quite as flashy as the Record, especially when selling.
