24/28 spoke count OK for light touring?

Deepak, I'd recommend a 28x32 build. I grew up in Calcutta, by the way. I'd be using 36x36 there. The lower spoke count will give you a slight aero advantage you cannot use there. The 32 will be much more reliable/durable. I'd go with 28/32 lighter spokes over 24/28 heavy ones. Those A23 rims are fine and can always be replaced when they wear out. Sure, there are better rims here but since you cannot get them easily there, stick with what is available. I'd personally prefer the DT rims but the difference will be minor if the build is good and the spoke count adequate. After100-150 ams, have the builder check and re-tension the wheels.

Also these are mainly for our touring bikes. We travel and ride in Europe a couple of times a year. Roads are not bad there either ;-)
Having said that, I agree with your [and others] advise on higher spoke counts.
Thanks all for the advice.
Decided to get two wheelsets each. One each with the 105s and one each with the inexpensive Novatec. If they are crap, I'll get Hope hubs for the lighter sets.
