Knee Pain
I'm a south Florida flat lander but last weekend went up to central Florida for 2 days of riding (70 miles flat Saturday and 82 miles of rollers on Sunday). I think I was trying to push too hard of a gear up the rollers and now I have some left knee pain. Has anyone ever taken supplements like Glucosimine for knee issues? I'm curious if it works as I've read some runners articles that said it does work with knee pain.

Do you do any kind of streching? Foam roller? I think that could help you much more than some supplements...

San An/Dade? I was just there yesterday as well and today my left knee hurts a little too. Glucosamine is more of a daily supplement to help in the long run, not to fix knee pain that is already there. Advil would be for that (but not worth taking IMO). And like you said it was likely from pushing too big of a gear going uphill, or a bad bike fit, or both. Mine is likely from having my saddle too low and the nature of pushing for a very long ride (122mi). A little rest and some light stretching will likely help in the few days, then just ease back into riding. Listen to your knee. If it's still complaining don't push it.

Glucosamine does (seem) to work well for joints but it's not a quick fix. It takes a few weeks to start working in your joints. Look for glucosamine chondroitin. Or ask a doctor, which I'm not.

If you're concerned, go see a physiotherapist..

Knee pain is pretty complicated. The first step is trying to pin point the pain point so you can figure out what the root cause of the pain (for example, the symptoms of ITBS feels like knee pain, but it has very little to do with the knee), and from there, you can adjust the bike and your riding style to avoid doing the things that's making this worse.
