Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I fooled around with a tandem frame in Solidworks this week. Still need to get on the dropouts and looks like I forgot one of the miters in the captain's BB cluster. Oh, and I briefly looked into rendering welds in SW2014, but seemed like more work than it was worth.

AG would have finished in about 10 hours and got stopped, so I think your friend did too. Regardless, very good showing to do well on that day. And yes, the bike was crazy psycho fast.

Good work, LAJ. Pretty soon you won't have any time to spend with us tortoises. You will be hanging out in the Podium forum.

What's an intake gig? And, they actually have a garden center in Wyoming? Stuff for growing bigger and prettier rocks?

We do brake cable replacement on those at the bike shop, from time to time.

Wow, everyone's out riding and kicking ass, and I'm just mowing lawns, cleaning the house and making lunch for my mom as we weren't able to get together last weekend for Mother's Day.

Ok, I did pick up and work on some bikes Saturday, but did not squeeze in any riding except for short test rides. I made a deal with a friend to take his two bikes and produce one good one. Turns out the Specialized Hardrock was basically perfect. Gave it a wash, lubed the cables and chain, and it's awesome. I need to true up the wheels and might as well pull and service the BB as well. The other was a Giant Iguana with suspension fork. I'm basically just taking the wheels from it. I told him to ride the Specialized for a bit and then we can talk about if he wants to make some changes like going to drop bars (I had shown him my project bike).

And in the interest of living in the now, but still making the mortgage payment, I dropped 200 bucks on a rack+handlebar bag setup for the Specialized. I will eventually build a second bike and the rack and bag will get used, so I don't count it in the expense of the bike. I think I might get away with less than 200 bucks on the bike build. Less than 150 if I end up skipping the dynamo hub build.

I didn't actually read all that closely, but I reckon it's sitting behind a window and asking people what's wrong and whether they have insurance, then handing them a buncha paperwork, then doing the data entry. When I heard they were hiring I just clicked on the "Clerical" section, figuring that would involve the smallest quantity of bodily fluids

I ran 27mph flat land sprint clocked officially on video (go Pro) shot stationary from the side of the road against a police radar display. Under neath said display is a 25mph speed limit sign.

I'm pretty sure this indicts me into the 41 bad assery hall of fame right? 27mph has to be a potbelly landspeed record.

There was much more stretch in the tank than the 27 - I needed to be careful because you pass through a busy intersection into the speed trap so there's not a lot of 'ramp up' space. I'm thinking 30-33 is very do-able.

When do I get a speeding ticket?
