Cycling habits/skills/quirks apply to other situations?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I don't know if other people have had this affliction:
Hiking with the family on some local multi-use trails and found myself yelling "Rider Up!" as a mountain biker came around a tight switchback. Startled the **** out of my wife. I didn't even think and it came out at full volume. I guess auto-pilot kicks in, even when hiking.

Hahaha that's great! I don't yell, but do allow mountain bikers going up the trail to have priority over myself if I'm hiking.

My local club does winter hikes on trails that are also open to MTB-ers. Since the hiking groups are large and some of the trails are curvy, people routinely announce cyclists, and the warnings get passed down the line.
