Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

BTW I have two pairs of the $85 model and one of the $110.

Nothing for $25 is comparable. The only shorts for me that are good quality other than Boures are Pearl Izumi.
1.) I have no problem with the fit of the cheap Amazaon shorts.
2.) I'm not sure why you need a drawstring.
3.) Chamois is perfectly located on the Santic shorts I buy as well.
4.) None of my cheap Amazon shorts sag and they fit just fine.
5.) I haven't had any seams fail yet.

The only reason people are shelling out $80-$100 for shorts is because it's a niche market. Not because they are better.

They list them as underwear, but I wear mine as just shorts. They're not see through or anything. If they were, my wife would've never let me leave the house. Baleaf ones are the same.

There's a lot of difference between a $25 pair of shorts and a $100 pair of shorts. Also, the bike shop doesn't mark up the price 200% on clothes. It's much more like 40-50% give or take. The quality of the stitching is one of the big differences. Smaller, smoother stitching is a lot better, especially for long rides. Even comparing name brands, my cheapish (maybe $40?) Sugoi have nothing on my more expensive Specialized shorts. The specialized has thinner material (to the point sometimes I feel naked), much more comfortable, easily better made and has so far been aging better. The Sugois are no longer black, but more greyish in color. Also as mentioned, the chamois isn't there for padding. It's to help stop swamp ass and friction from tearing up your junk and chafing you.

LG, etc. So cheap is intriguing, but if you were to move a little down market to the performance "elite" level, you'd still be getting a better product for not much more.
+1 I recently bought Performance Elite bibs for ~$60. They are working fine for me so far. Originally wanted the Ultra bib but they were out of stock in my size last I looked. If you don't like bibs, then save more $$ and get the shorts.

I believe you should wear whatever works for you. Obviously. I've tried a lot of brands and it just comes down to Assos.
