Not really because 1) They fit like no other and have a drawstring, 2) The chamois is perfectly located and doesn't sag like you crapped your pants, 3) The shorts don't snag like cheap ones on the tip of the saddle (because the don't fit the right way or the chamois is too bulky) and 4) the quality of the seams is beyond anything you will see on other shorts, where most shorts fail is the seams.
BTW I have two pairs of the $85 model and one of the $110.
Nothing for $25 is comparable. The only shorts for me that are good quality other than Boures are Pearl Izumi.

2.) I'm not sure why you need a drawstring.
3.) Chamois is perfectly located on the Santic shorts I buy as well.
4.) None of my cheap Amazon shorts sag and they fit just fine.
5.) I haven't had any seams fail yet.
The only reason people are shelling out $80-$100 for shorts is because it's a niche market. Not because they are better.

There's a lot of difference between a $25 pair of shorts and a $100 pair of shorts. Also, the bike shop doesn't mark up the price 200% on clothes. It's much more like 40-50% give or take. The quality of the stitching is one of the big differences. Smaller, smoother stitching is a lot better, especially for long rides. Even comparing name brands, my cheapish (maybe $40?) Sugoi have nothing on my more expensive Specialized shorts. The specialized has thinner material (to the point sometimes I feel naked), much more comfortable, easily better made and has so far been aging better. The Sugois are no longer black, but more greyish in color. Also as mentioned, the chamois isn't there for padding. It's to help stop swamp ass and friction from tearing up your junk and chafing you.

I'm a big believer in the "intermediate" priced ultra line of shorts and bibs from performance bike. Bought during sales (Which are frequent) you can get the shorts for as little as $35, and the bibs for $55. I prefer them to the other intermediate priced offerings from pearl? LG, etc. So cheap is intriguing, but if you were to move a little down market to the performance "elite" level, you'd still be getting a better product for not much more.

I believe you should wear whatever works for you. Obviously. I've tried a lot of brands and it just comes down to Assos.
