Got a lesson in painting this morning. I have been working on my garage off and on and want it DONE. All that is left is to paint the ceiling. So, trying to beat the heat/humidity, I decided 9-10:00 would be an ideal time for the paint where the temp would be below 85-90º (max. paint temp) and the morning humidity drop a little. Also, figured since it's inside the garage, direct sun wouldn't be a problem.
Silly me. 25 minutes later my sprayer stopped and couldn't be cleared. Out came the rollers as I was determined to get it done. 15 minutes of rolling and the rollers started skidding and slipping. Checked the thermometer in the garage and it read 92º despite the outside temp still in the 80s. Oh well. Off to a lot of clean-up.

Casually Deliberate
Eww. My office-mate said "What's on your forehead?" and I touched it and it was peeling skin from when I sunburned it Saturday. Usually it takes a week for me to start peeling so this must have been pretty bad. In any case, it is, disgustingly, flaking and falling off even as I'm typing this. I will NOT be helping with the lunch trays today and I wish I could go home until this is over.

I have felt really wrung out the last few days anyway and wouldn't have come in today except I had the boxes from Jenson USA shipped here to the office and the saddles and sleeves are "Out For Delivery" right now. The pedals are still showing "Commerce City, Colorado" and aren't expected until tomorrow.

I wouldn't have thought it would make it any better, but I was pleasantly surprised with the results.

All - I have a stupid question (or is it there are no stupid questions, just stupid people that ask questions?):
At lunch, I went to the Firm's cafeteria and turned on the TdF. They were showing Froome warming up on a bike that had and oblong/oval crankset. What is the purpose of training/warming up with one of those? He was on a trainer and went out on a normal circular crankset.
I know. Spoiler. Reported.

Heathy, funny story, sort of: on Sadie's first visit to my vet, very experienced vet, and he's examining her and gets to the point he wants to check her abdominal area. So I'm sitting in the chair directly behind her, holding her around the shoulders and chest. The vet is to the side of her, reaching and groping her. His assistant is to the front of her trying to hold her head. Sadie is trying to pull away from me and hunker down to the floor and three people are surrounding her, grabbing at her, pulling on her. Bad situation.
Sadie took a lunge and nip at the assistant and caught her, but drew no blood. In hindsight we should have muzzled her, because she was fairly new to me, new to the office and new to the vet, and we put her in a very stressful situation. She had virtually no choice but to strike out at one of us. Or one of THEM. Fortunately no harm done, but ALL of us should have known better. Perhaps he had my old Rotts in mind which relaxed him too much. Moose was old and mellow during the later years, and Starlight was just one of the sweetest dogs you would ever want to meet. But Sadie . . . you have to be careful with Sadie.

My son and I spent five days in the Airstream at Echo Lake, the little campground at the base of Mt Evans over the Fourth. Favorite campground in CO. No hookups but the solar panels ran all systems. It was sweet.
We did have to run from the lodge to the trailer in a wicked hail storm that lasted over an hour. Ground looked like two inches of snow. I had to drop off the Airstream at Windish in Longmont today to address the four leaks discovered during that hail storm.
Even with the storm, we had options. Compared to tent camping, the trailer is just luxurious. Lights and Legos.

I can't wait to move into the new place so I can finally get out the legos that have been packed for the last year (there's A LOT of them). Right now me and the kids just get to open the CMF bags when my older daughter gets to the next level on her reading app (and then the 3 year old throws a tantrum and has to get one, too).

Excuse me for jumping into the conversation, but I've been following this off and on over the morning and the last few comments have reminded me of several experiences. I've been a vet tech for over ten years- though not in private practice anymore and (humorously in retrospect) invariably the times when owners try to hold their own animals during an exam is when we know there is a greater opportunity for "an interesting experience." My favorite story is from when a new client comes in one afternoon- young husband and wife with what I thought was a suitcase but turned out to be a heavy-duty cat carrier. The husband was very concerned that I was going to get hurt: "Do you want me to hold him? We had to have him declawed and blunt his teeth. He was a feral rescue and he attacked our last vet and drew a lot of blood." He was surprised when I told him very politely, "Thank you so much, but I'll be fine. This is my job. Y'all just have a seat and let us work." Amazingly enough, the cat was just fine.
Anyway, just wanted to toss this into the mix. Y'all have a good day.

I think I told this story before but I'm old so deal with it.
My wife's grandfather had a miniature poodle that was by his side constantly. After he died, no one could hardly go near it. However, he took to my 8 year old son at the time so my wife's grandmother asked us to take it which we did. The poodle attached himself to my son like he did to her grandfather and became very protective.
We first realized that we had a problem when the groomer told us to never bring the dog in again. Then, one night, my kid was arguing about going to bed when I ordered him to do so. As I turned around to leave his room, the poodle jumped at my left hand and basically mauled it.
The dog was euthanized the next day.

My little shi t-poo dog has gotten more aggressive as he's aged. Now he's 12, and I seem to be the only one that can deal with him with very few issues.
For instance, the standard procedure for taking him out that one last time before bed is to pick up his crate and gently dump him out of it. Try to reach in there while he's in it and he'll snap at you. But once he's out of the crate he's just fine.
My wife has more issues than I do, which I think has to do with the fact that she's scared of him and he can read her body language. The kids try to avoid him at this point, but he often will bark and scare them if they run by too close to him.
He's a very small dog (8 pounds soaking wet), so he's not capable of doing much damage. And I don't think he wants to do anything than issue a warning, anyways.
