Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

That is clearly, without a doubt, all due to Rapha's marketing. They got you under their claws.

hungover, not sure if/how long I should ride. I'll probably head out for 1-2 hours of randomness in a bit.

'tis the season to be lazy, fa la la la la, la la la la.

Legs are weird. Our air quality was good enough to ride, so I went out on the TT bike. Tired legs but I hit every interval target no problem. Really enjoyed groovin on the feeling of pedaling that bike, there's just something about it that feels great to push the pedals.

One of my five minute intervals happened to fall on a stretch of 1% downhill grade, which is my favorite favorite favorite terrain to put out power on. Just so much fun to ride fast. I finally got the QOM on that segment.

Yes, I am aware that getting a KOM on a downhill segment is essentially the same thing as saying "I'm fat". Whatever. It's still fun.

Ride a little and see how you feel. Then you will be happily surprised I bet at how good it feels. You'll probably report back that you rode 80 miles.

I hear ya. The 80 miles part I have my doubts about, but maybe it will be closer to 2 than 1 hrs

I'm going to Home Depot or some local nursery later to get two large houseplants. It's going to make the space very nice.

I've been in the same 1br apt since October of 2012. When I first moved in, it looked like some bachelor pad, with tons of bikes and beer bottles lying around in living room. I've since moved them into the bedroom w some vertical storage.

Now it's clean, regularly vacuumed and looking good with some plants, a real piano (just my digi one before), a nice A/V system and some framed paintings and pictures. If you stepped in you would have no idea that I'm a cyclist or a complete degenerate .

What, the bicycles or the beer bottles?

I've been downsizing lately, too. Just delivered a multi-thousand dollar trike this AM to a happy gentleman. Now, if I can just get rid of my pristine fixed gear... (52 cm - $250) <hint - hint>

Moved up in technology for more music. Now listening to a CD on NAD 545BEE player. The sound is good even if the equipment is shimano 105 level. Audiophile schwag makes bike stuff seem inexpensive by comparison.

Same here though neither were a phone. I also had a Windows Axiom X5 which I liked a lot and but MS orphaned it.

Went for a 30 minute walk with daughter #2 to the closest poke-stop. It's actually a historic site, the location of the first Amish meeting house in the USA.

Then you need a coffee mug holder on your handlebars.

I've never gone to the one at the end of my street. Right next to the bike path (coincidence?) If I get fatter I blame you.

What does the poke - stop mean? There's one near me. The cops had to kick hundreds of players out of a local park. My understanding is that you don't get any rewards or prizes?

um...

I passed my evaluation. With flying colors.

My evaluator is the Vice-President of Operations of USA Swimming. A wonderful and very down to earth man.

He wants and I emphasize wants to see me on more National Decks.

It's going to be a long, sleepless night.

Apparently you get pokeballs which help you get more Pokemon. That's my understanding. I don't play, though. Merely observing.

I should invent a virtual Donkey Kong app, you have to run uphill and jump over barrels to save the girl. When you see kids running around and jumping like maniacs next year, you can say you remember when datlas got inspired.
