Is this a good deal? 2012 Trek Madone
I have a shot at getting a "like new" (barely ridden) 2012 Trek Madone 4.7
A guy I work with has a nephew that owns the bike. Size looks like good fit for me - asking $1000. Full Ultegra 6700 (except for the cassette, which I think is 105).
I think it's a good deal - quality bike - but I've been "wanting" a bike with 6800. Plus, I imagine that the CF has improved in the last 4 years.
Any thoughts?
On a side note - from the pictures I've seen of the bike, I'm having trouble matching it with the exact color scheme of other Madones. It's definitely a Modone 4.7. It's black, red, and white. I've seen other Madone 4.7 with these colors (2012's), but not in the same pattern as this bike.

Definitely sounds like a good deal. The color schemes usually vary slightly by year, if it's not a match for 2012 maybe check 2011 or 2013.
The frame is still very good IMO, at that price you could buy a new 6800 group and sell the 6700 parts without investing too much extra.
After looking at the 2012 4.7 a bit just now, it appears to be identical to the frame used in my 2013 3.1 except with a slightly higher grade carbon, probably from the same molds. I'm still loving my bike so I guess you can call that a vote of confidence in the one you're looking at.

Last year I sold a 2012 Madone 4.6 with full Rival for $1300, so sounds like you got a good deal.
