Need help on wheel selection
Hello lunatics,
My area has both hills and flats but I will be largely be in the hills in about 3 weeks with this new road bike.
What wheelset would you recommend for me? I'm not a racer, I'm not a weight concerned rider(I'm a fat slob at 5'11" 205lbs) so I don't need anything for the track or anything discipline specific.
From my understanding I shouldn't get tubular in case of punctures on long rides so clinchers should be a starting point correct? I would start looking for something used or on sale since my new bike comes with wheels but I'm really clueless between zipp, Hed, enve etc.
Is there a model or two in all those brands that aren't on the xtreme race driven, TT, costly side that you would recommend?
eBay has a variety of seemingly good deals but what I need for my 11sp is so confusing to me at this point I'm too scared to buy for fear of getting something incorrectly sized. I hear the 4.5 enve wheels r good but I'm unsure if it's "too much" for my riding style.
Anyway..please send me your thoughts. And please don't tell me to just search because I will lie, I mean tell the truth and say I searched and nothing is available whatsoever in the history of the Internet.

A budget would help people suggest something for you. You are looking for rim brake, not disc right?
What I usually do is search articles in online magazines for "best of" and then check prices to see which line I can afford. Once I have it nailed down a little I search specific reviews on the item I'm about to purchase.
Another good option for wheels is a custom build by a local wheel builder, you might want to give a couple a call.

Shimano WH-9000 Carbon Clincher Wheelset > Components > Wheels > Road Wheels | Jenson USA
Those should be awesome for you.
If you are on a budget, these arent bad at all:
Vuelta Corsa Lite Road Wheelset
I personally have Shimano C24 RS-81's on my bike (I'm 230lbs btw) and they are nice, but one of my friends rides these Vuelta Corsa Lite's, and I kinda wish I went with those instead to save a couple of bucks. They, to me, are actually, a little better than my Shimano's. They spin fast and roll longer. Makes me feel like I just paid for the name brand.
