Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I meant to post this earlier. Boy Wonder at Junior Track Nationals: three events, three national championships. Love it.

New saddle ordered. I don't know why saddles seem to be a given.

Old Ridge Road looks fun. I might give it a shot when I get a CX or MTB (and my knee / hip are 100%).

Trsnrtr, am really sad to read about your crash with your wife. I hope the bike is salvageable. I've just come off four broke ribs after a workplace accident, but mine weren't so incapacitating... but I have a clue as to how you feel.

I hope your kids are stepping up to offer help at home. Neither of you are going to be capable of much for a while.

For heaven's sake, don't let Machka find out about this. We haven't been back on the tandem since a sudden front-wheel puncture sent us all over the place, with a kerb right next to us; fortunately, I was able to wrestle the bike to a halt with no injuries.

Read this elsewhere and thought that it's better to tell her that it was a "little scuffle" in a bike race than with the cops outside a bar! That's something she should be really, really grateful about.
