Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Good sites where I might find some 40/50mm deep aero training wheels?

Needing some good sites where I might find some 40-50mm deep or so aero training wheels? Super light not a issue but good deal is. Google comes up with these great priced wheels but I know nothing about the wheels. Any help on wheels and sites would be greatly appreciated. Vuelta 37mm Road Wheelset

Thanks
Marty

Vuelta's are good, but that's about as deep as you're going to get without going carbon. I think Soul Cycling had some 40mm deep aluminums a while back but they were heavy if I remember correctly. I just bought these Reynolds R Fours from Performance which is about a good deal as you're going to get without going chinese, having some built, or building your own. I'm sure someone will prove me wrong though.

Maybe it is just me and my Great Plains winds...but the phrases "40/50mm deep" and "training wheels" cause cognitive dissonance.

Giant SLR wheels look pretty good for the price (about $1200 a set)

Between $300 and $800.

Between my roval clx40s and my no name tt wheels, stiffness (accellerations), weight, tracking in corners (function of stiffness) is better by a large margin on the rovals. If I had the average hubs that come on China wheels then the hub engagement would be far superior as well (3 pawl novatec hub vs DT star ratchet).

Given the low cost I do intend to obtain more Chinese wheels for less than ideal riding. My expensive wheels are better, but my cheap wheels don't exactly suck. Plus I hate to change pads from alloy to carbon and I swap wheels a lot.

the prices quoted above are right. i usd farsports / wheelsfar. they come in any configuration of depth, spoke, hub, width, etc, with which you can build some fairly pricey wheel, or relatively really cheap lightweight, deep-dish wheels. im satisfied in terms of weight and durability (roundness, trueness)

I'm riding a pair from and eBay seller "onlycarbonwheel" and have no complaints, would buy from them again without a second thought. I have this exact wheelset. I'm pretty sure others here have bought from the same seller.

Good to know thanks. I see you also have a Nashbar CX, whats your thought on their frames?

Thanks for the links everyone.

I measured the wall thickness last night and have (.040inch\1.1mm) thickness left. After doing a search I think I found where factory wall thickness is (.050inch\1.3mm) so I've lost (.010inch\.25mm). Anyone know where I might find factory spec's for shimano stuff?

Thanks,
Marty

Damn good for the price. I got the frame and fork on a Black Friday sale, I paid less than $100 shipped. It's not as nice as a nice bike, but gets the job done. I got it as a beater, foul weather, and cross bike, so I didn't really want to spend a ton on something that I intended to destroy. It's not a primary bike, so it only needs to be a functioning one. It's sort of soft in the bottom bracket if you try to to crank out big watts, and its weighty, complete it weighs in the 20lb range. The cross frame also has very, very wide chainstays, which limited my crank options a lot. If you use an mtb crank it would be fine though.
