Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Good Buy??

I browse on Craigslist and Offerup from time to time to see what deals I can find. Today I found what looks to be an excellent deal on a 2012 Fuji Altamira 2.0 Ultegra Di2 in what the seller claims to be in "excellent" condition. He is the original owner and is asking $1350 which is a lot lower than what bicycle blue book suggests. I currently have a 2013 Altamira 2.3 with Ultegra components so I'm familiar with the model and I'm a fan of Fuji bikes. My bike is a 54 MD frame to where this one is a 56 MD/LG frame. I know Fuji sizes their bikes a little different than other manufacturers out there. I want to go look at it and take it for a test drive to see how it rides. I talked to the guy and he says that he swapped the Oval brakes for Ultegra and the handlebar. Is this a good deal as long as everything checks out?

Link to the posting.

If you have a newer Altimira that fits and you're looking at buying an older altimira that is too large... why? Just for DI2? 2 cm can be quite a lot in terms of fit.

Seems like a good price to me though.

Not looking to upgrade per-se but adding a second road bike. I've been told that based on my body geometry/composition that I can go 54 or 56. It will depend on the bike.

OK but... (scratching head) why go with an identical bike? That's a different size? Personally, I'd get something different but that does seem to be a good deal.

Is that 10 speed Di2? If so, PASS. Shimano doesn't support that anymore.

It is a 10 speed Di2 system. Wasn't aware of that. Thanks

Not sure. I guess I really like the bike and wanted to try a different size to see how it fits. Maybe it fits better than the one I currently have.
