Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Jockey Wheel and chainring integration

Hi , when my chain start running into lower Pulley , the jockey wheel Pins don't enter chain cavity exactly in the middle ..
Although drive train runs quite , but that causes chain wavering up and down a little-bit .
Any Advises

Methinks your terminology could use some work. Your chainrings can't touch your lower jockey wheel unless you've had a catastrophic drivetrain explosion.

Maybe take a look at that or provide some photos of what you're talking about.

Ah. Is this happening when on a particular cog of the cassette, or is it in every gear? You can play with cable tension using the barrel adjuster as it enters your RD to see if you can get it aligned properly without screwing up your shifting. You may also have a bent RD hanger, which would cause a slight misalignment with the pulleys. Has your bike fallen over on the drive side? How is the shifting in general?

it's with all cogs ..
i just upgraded all drive-train to new ultegra gp. .. i'm checking drive train at home now
I adjusted the barrel earlier as there was some noise at 7th and 9th cog , now all cogs are fine and don't produce any noise , but as i told you i feel chain are wavering a little bit up and down when running through lower pulley

I mean, I may be wrong but I think the lower pulley in particular tends to move side to side a bit. Not sure if that's what you're referring to, but if the shifting is fine and you aren't getting any jumps or ghost shifts or weird noises, I wouldn't worry about a little extra movement from the chain on the lower pulley.

it's the chain that moves up and down , rater than side to side ..
as pulley spindle raise the chain a little bit so the spindle of the pulley enters the chain "moving the chain down then up and so on"
can't attach a video here

Couple thoughts. Depending on the type of chain lube used, some gunk can build up around the pulleys. Maybe you have some keeping the pulley from spinning freely. The other is pulleys eventually do wear out. You might need to replace I although it takes lots of miles for that to happen.

How old is your chain? Is it possible that it has "stretched"?

make sure the derailleur hangs straight and the body of the derailleur isn't twisted.

I just put Ultegra on a bike and had the same issue ... I finally just pushed on the derailleur a little, which solved it, but I DO NOT recommend this solution.

It is a minute alignment problem, I think, and I think you need to solve it because eventually, your chain will catch, and snatch the derailleur into the spokes. Or ... you might get away with it forever.

I assume the rear derailleur is new? And the chain? I would remove the derailleur, make sure the jockey and idler wheel spin freely and don't wobble, make sure the two halves of the derailleur cage are screwed tight, and reinstall it very carefully to make sure it is as straight as it is supposed to be.

Also, today I learned that the upper pulley is called the Jockey and the lower is the Idler, I've always referred to both as jockey wheels.
