Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Alternative to jersey pockets...

Hmph. Well, I really don't wanna shell out the more serious cash for a jersey, so I was looking at some Under Armour type stuff. my only gripe is that I'd only want a jersey for the pockets! What other alternatives are there to jersey pockets for easy access storage. I'd like to keep a flask of GU, Clif Bars, and a watch in it.

But if I get a jersey, what d'you think of this guy?

saddle bag, maybe not as convenient, but workable. gota stick the flat kit somewhere anyway.

or you could (gasp) sew pockets onto one of your ussual ridding shirts. but dont ask me how.

I like blue.

I thought I could just get away with wearing something else. When I got my first jersey, and all of a sudden, life got so much easier.

there's always tons of jerseys on ebay for like 5$ if you don't wanna spend much, but a jersey with pockets is so damn practical(same with arm warmers) i consider it almost an essential.
you could always sew your own pocket(s) on the back of your favorite riding shirt.

I already have a saddle bag that's pretty full with tools. Might see if my mom could sew something together for me...

Nevermind, my mom just offered to buy the jersey for me, and I just ordered it in yellow. Thanks all!

Keep an eye on the sales at Performance. They sell their Classic jerseys for $20.

be careful of inexpensive jerseys, some of them are hugh. cheap fanny packs work
wonders, especially if you aren't really talented about pulling stuff out of your jersey's
pockets.

Sometimes I wished my jersey had one pocket which had a zipper and/or bigger than the rest.

Well, I only have one bottle cage and no room for another (no braze-ons on the bike)

Performance Ultra Short Sleeve Jersey has a zippered pocket in the back. It's located behind the center back pocket and accessed from the side. It's kind of awkward to zip and unzip but if you keep something you hardly take out like a wallet, it works wonderfully. It's also in very good quality over all.

Fanny pack has many uses. It's nice to have it for jogging, walking around the nighborhood or just for shopping at local stores, even if you don't use it for cycling.
