My sentiments exactly. And if you think you'll run out of energy on a ride, put a couple of teaspoons of sugar in a water bottle. All energy food becomes glucose in the end anyway.

Fuel for a 25 mile ride. Depends on your intensity and age. Hills, flats, combined? Also, depends on how long before your ride?
If your ride is in two or three hours, of course have something to eat.
During your ride, nible a little here and there.
Or, don't fuel at all. You don't want to pig out when you get home.
You never want to be completely empty when you get home.
