Boyd wheels = excellent customer service
I purchased a set of Boyd Altamonts almost 2 years ago, and put about 6,000 miles on them. While cleaning my bike the other day I noticed cracks at some of the drive side spoke holes. I was freaking out, as I had just done a long 50 mph decent that morning
I took some pictures and emailed them off with a explaination of what I found. The reply I got from Boyd was, so sorry about this, ship the wheel and we'll rebuild it with a new rim, (no questions asked). I spoke to Ric the warranty administrator and explain I had a organized century in 2 weeks, he said no problem. I shipped the wheel out, received an email the work order was made, a few days later, that it shipped, and received today in time for my ride. In this day and age, excellent customer service like this is hard to come by, kudos to Boyd's

Don't have any of their products but have met the owners at a crit. Super nice people and I'm not surprised by your story.

BTW, I have a set of Vitesse wheels still going strong after several thousand miles, so I'm not complaining. I would just think an alu rim, even if it's pretty light weight, would have a lifespan longer than that.

I chatted Boyd himself up by email once. Nice guy. Very much on the ball with what his company does. If I were in the market for a set of hoops, he'd be on the shortlist.

I will echo these positive observations of this company. I own a pair of their carbon tubular 44s. Excellent wheels and relatively speaking they are affordable. Certainly more so than some of the $3000 and up wheels that one could purchase. But why? Ok, I am not suggesting that four or five of the other big name wheel builders are making poor products, they are not. I just didn't want to spend 3x more than a pair of Boyd wheels. In my selection process, i had many email conversations with Boyd Johnson which lead to my decision to purchase his products.

I work in an LBS that carries Boyd wheels. About a year and a half ago they got in a batch of rims that, IIRC, began to delaminate almost as soon as they were ridden. Our customers brought them in, we contacted Boyd and got the return authorization, and got replacement wheels in about the time it took for shipping both ways. Great company to work with.

When I ordered a set of Boyd's for my TT bike, I called them with a question and Boyd Johnson himself picked up the phone and we had a good chat. A very nice company to work with and I will be buying from them in the future if I need to.

I had a similar experience regarding broken spoke on my two sets of Altamonts. Very happy with my wheels and customer service from Boyd Johnson.
