Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

So, other than that, how was your week?

Just kidding, this too will pass.

Sorry...

I thought appliances only break down after a person buys a bike or makes an other extravagant purchase.

A trip to the hospital is not an extravagant purchase.

No, thats why I'm confused. New car, bike, pool table, schedule a cruise and I'm guarantees to have an appliance or a car breakdown but not a hospital stay.

Maybe it's late fallout from the purchase of the Propel.

Ouch, sorry to hear. Cold showers are no fun, either. You mostly better now?

Sorry to hear it. Glad you are better. Water heaters suck...except when they are working.

I think we are going to get more and more of these interruptions. The bot army ploy was blamed during the meltdown of the on-line Australian Census several months ago; the website where every family was supposed to log on and provide information was so overwhelmed beyond what was expected, that it just fizzed. The thing is, it seems to be almost impossible to determine who has initiated these attacks, as the linked article above discusses.

Welcome to the new warfare. Or maybe that should be warefare.

As a sidenote, I have never, ever been comfortable with trusting my personal files to the "cloud".
Coincidences suck. Started having internet trouble yesterday afternoon right after a neighborhood-wide power outage. Spent all evening thinking it was due to the cyber attacks. Realized this morning it was probably an upset of my modem or router. Spent an hour with Comcast to isolate the problem in the router, not the modem. Just finished a firmware update and reset with Linksys. All is back up and running. How would a technology-challenged person get this figured out? It is even hard to just work over the phone with the tech support.

Oh, BTW, Linksys (Cisco) didn't say one word about the router being out of a free service period or needing to charge me for the 30 minutes on the phone with them. They were really good to work with.

My planned MTB island ride might be cancelled tomorrow. It is predicted to be gusting up to 40mph. I think they might not run the ferry ?? Even if they don't cancel, I don't want salt spray on my bike. Bummer.

Stopped off at an LBS while killing a little time this morning and laid hands on some 45Nrth Wolvhammer winter riding boots. Balls are those things chunky! In a 46 wide (which is probably what I'd need), they're straight-up Frankenstein boots.
