Any using pedal extenders with carbon cranks?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Anyone using pedal extenders with carbon cranks?

I have been using Ultegra and Dura Ace cranks with pedal extenders for a while However, I wanted to at lest consider putting Campy Record on a new frame I am about to build up. It has carbon cranks and while I am not really heavy (177lbs today) and mostly sit and spin with maybe 2-3 mins of standing climbing on hills, I wanted to know if anyone my weight has been using pedal extenders on carbon cranks like the Record or Red.

I know some do not recommend it for bigger riders, but I wanted some feedback from you guys. Thanks in advance.

It is possible but I wanted some actual experience with Record and I have not run across this. I think I am leaning away from it, as tempting as it is to try Campy Record. Some research has revealed that Campy Record cranks use a two-piece alloy insert. I am not 100% sure but Red may use a one-piece alloy insert. The two piece is even more susceptible to getting "dislodged" eventually with the increased torque provided by the pedal extender. So, I guess I will be sticking to alloy...DA or Ultegra. If they every change to carbon though, I am in trouble.

Have you considered the Shimano extended axle pedals, such as these: Shimano Ultegra SPD-SL 6800 4mm Road Pedals | Chain Reaction Cycles

Not as much extension as a typical pedal extender, but those standard extenders are simply trying to accommodate a typical pedal thread, not necessarily targeting a specific extension.

I have tried them (with Speedplays and Eggbeaters) and 5-8 mm is simply not enough for me. I actually have some I need to sell...Ti extensions mainly.

I have about 15,000 miles on carbon Chorus pedals with pedal extenders (20 mm) on right side only. I have had no problems. I am about the same weight as you. Lot of chip and seal and short steep climbs here, so I put them through their paces.
