Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Your strava name can be anything, most people just use their name or nickname.

The Global heatmap highlights roads that are popular for cycling/running in a specified area, you can use it to find the best routes.

Strava is used on many levels.

If you use it to track your rides, that's good.
Some use it to try to improve their times and/or standings on certain segments.
Some use it as a social network to keep in touch with and monitor friends' activities.
Some take it WAY too seriously.

FYI it took me until today to get the double entendre of your user name here. I'm slow.

Haha, Hi, my name is Ed, and I'm a special guy!

It was incredibly hard to hold onto "SpecialEd" back in the day (there's a mIRC bully out there somewhere that is my arch nickname nemesis), so I went with the weird spelling and it stuck.

My Dad taught me to drive in a 72 Dodge Tradesman panel van BITD. Learned to parallel park using westcoast mirrors, no cheating looking out the back. Parking a car is a piece of cake.

Yep, IRC...they're old, I'm surprised they're still around. Haven't been on any of the servers for 15 years at least.

I used to hang out in a few that had a bunch of high school/college friends but with new forms of social media, they kind of fell by the wayside. They were really handy for tech support questions and downloading things.

It supposed to stay above seven degrees for the next week+.

Almost seems reasonable.
