Mixing 6800 and eTap
I have full 6800 right now and want to try eTap. I'm thinking I'll get the eTap mini group and a Red 22 crankset. Would it be okay to keep my 6800 cassette, chain and brakes? Would there be any downsides of doing so? I can't get myself to cough up the money for the Red cassette and brakes when my Ultegra brakes are f***in awesome and the cassette still has plenty of life.

Go ahead and keep them. Unless the chain and cassette are already worn to the point of putting unnecessary wear on new chainrings.

I just moved from the 105 set to Red Etap mini group plus Red brakes but had to go 6800 on the crankset as my size is not available at the moment. I needed a new chain and cassette so went upper end Sram. According to my LBS mechanics, I could have stayed with all 105 or moved to 6800 just fine while utilizing Sram mini set.
