Giant Defy Composite 1 question? Newbie

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Giant Defy Composite 1 question? Newbie

About to purchase my first road bike and I'm considering a 2013 Giant Defy Composite 1. The frame is like new, and the original owner took all of the ultergra gearset off his new bike and put it on this one. The bike has new Ultegra 6800 wheels as well. My riding will consist of 15-35 mile rides and maybe the occasional small triathalon. What is the general thoughts on this particular bike? Sorry if this belongs somewhere else, first post.

Just make sure the size fits. The stock 2013 bike came with the older 6700 which is 10-speed. So if this one comes with the new 6800, it's even better as it is 11-speed.

Enjoy it.

Great bike, especially with Ultegra 11spd. One of the best shifting group sets around.

The other bike I'm considering is a Focus Izalco team sl 4.0, full DA. It's a 2015 model, mint looks new.

It's 800 more, and just starting out I'm sure the Defy would be more than enough bike.

I liked it when I test rode it back in December. I went with a SuperSix Evo as I preferred that one and I got a 2016 for a great deal. So long as the frame fits it'll do very nicely for a first road bike.
FWIW, bought my first road bike since high school 8 years ago (struth!) - a circa 1990 Miele with Suntour Superbe groupo (downshifters mate...). Enjoy, you have more gears on one cog than I have on 2...
