Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

2017 Specialized Tarmac Comp Weight

Doing some research on a new bike purchase and it looks like for 2017, Specialized switch the frame on the Tarmac Comp from the FACT 9r to the 10r. Does anyone have the weight for the new 2017 model?

Don't have exact figures but I know they did something similar with the Roubaix. The move from 9r to 10r will make it approximately 500g to 1lb lighter and 10 to 20% stiffer. I doubt you'll notice a difference in the real world unless you can sustain a consistent 40km average speed.

I think I read somewhere that the $3k comp as a complete bike is around ~8kg.

No idea about just the frame+fork alone... I would guess maybe ~1200g(?)

I just bought a red one at Bikeline ,they said maybe Friday at the earliest but I doubt it,I got a Caad 10 which I like & a year ago I got a Caad 12 disc D/A,they increased the frame height by 1/2" so the frame is taller & less seatpost shows, the Tarmac looks like the top tube slops which will take care of that problem, the Caad 10 weighs 16.5 lbs. & Caad 12 almost 18 which I'm not crazy about, hopefully the Tarmac is lighter, hard finding not outrageously expensive disc rims for the 12 to lighten it up.

Picked up my Tarmac Comp this morning, had the shop weigh it w/reflectors,cheap pedals that it comes with in a 54cm & its 17lbs. 13 ounces.pulled the heavy tubes reflectors, put Ultegra carbon pedal & weight it at home & its 17lbs 1.5 ounces, can lower it more easy but this thing handles so light its deceptive, gotta say this is the best fitting, handling & riding bike Ive came across so far,its that good ,Id sell all my other bikes & just keep this .

I think you can safely assume all the newest "light" bikes will be around 800-850 grams for the frame and 300 or less for the fork. This regardless if it's a EU or US or Chinese brand, ALL OF THEM. Carbon layup and manufacturing is not some secret, they all do the same, despite whatever BS they spew about their manufacturing process.

Even Chinese open frames... HongFu just released a new model, 780 grams for the frame... I expect the frameset I ordered, frame and fork to be around 1150 grams.

FWIW, it's Columbus Spirit tubing w/CF fork. Guru is now out of business so I guess it's a "classic?" Doesn't matter. I love the thing.
