Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

What do you think of the easton(velomax) vista wheelset?

Hello
What do you think of the easton(velomax) vista wheelset? I'm going to use them as training- and triathlonwheels.
Opinions? Other suggestions?

They are 200 euros.

They don't really tell you too much about them.

It's a 18/20 spoked (j-bend) wheel using 30mm rims.

Doesn't look that bad at all. It would be nice if they put some "aero/oval" spokes on their also (since that can have just as dramatic effect as lowering spoke counts)

Don't know about the Vista but I'm on Orion II's and I like them alot. Yhey're fast, stiff, and seem strong. The initial quality of the wheel seems great. Prices are usually pretty good too.

I have the Circuit and have been having an issue with the rear wheel. I emailed Easton/Velomax at 7:00am eastern time and got a phone call 4 hours later...and they are on the west coast. They asked me to send my wheel in and are going to rework it under warranty. Needless to say I am very happy with their customer service...wish I didn't have the issue but they are going to make it right at their cost so what more can I ask?

What kind of an "issue" were you having with the rear wheel? I have Circuits on my new Jamis and I don't like surprises.

Sorry for the delay in response. Well in 600 or so miles I have had it trued like 3 times so far. First one was minor but the second time I had a spoke completely loose tension, I believe from hitting a set of RR Tracks at 27 MPH. That retrue/retension didn't hold true for more than a week and it needed retrued again. That is when I emailed Easton/Velomax and they told me to send it in. It is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow (to Easton Wheels) so I don't know yet what they will do.
