Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

For the last one they removed bone and cartilage from my knee and put it in my ankle. I finally got off of the crutches about five days ago after a little more than seven weeks. I've still got the air cast / boot for another five weeks. It's sucked and I have gained tons of weight.

My end goal is to be able to get back on a bicycle but at this point I'm really not sure if it is going to happen.

To pass the time I have been competing in car audio (sound quality, not bass) and managed to win a few world championships last year. I'm about to tear everything out of my vehicle and start over on that. It's a fun hobby and it gets me off of the couch. I've met a lot of really good people.

Here is a link to the video of my crash.

Glad you weren't more seriously injured!

Methinks that sounded an awfully lot like a Gixxer. Am I right?

Should have gotten a battery-powered Ryobi like I did. Except don't get one of the ones that fails right out of the box.

Family friends have raced AMA for years and broken just about every bone you can break on motorcycles. It comes with the territory, unfortunately.
Yep, high side unfortunately. There is a small dip there that I have hit a thousand times. Unfortunately this one time it didn't work out just right. Rear tire lost traction then got it back. Had it continued sliding it would have been a simple low side and I would have walked away no problem.

So a few pages ago there were some mention of, and even graphics of, "Preds."

I read it as "Freds," I imagine we see what we want to see.

The friend of mine that got married in Thailand also has a dog named Indy, after the race of course. He's a hyper-energetic Brittany. Very cute.

I did want to buy an electric one, but I got this mower for free from my mom. I spent about 4 bucks getting it running last time and have spent 2 summers running absolute crap gas through it. I popped open the carb last weekend in an attempt to clean it and the thing is just rusted out. A new one was only 23 bucks, so I decided to get that, get rid of the bad gas, and go fill up a can with some ethanol free fuel available from a farm co op near here.

So that probably hurt a little, then? Glad that you're gettin' down the road to recovery - let's hope you can get back on the bicycles. If not, I'll help you dispose of any bike and/or car audio cast-offs.

Yeah, just a little. The four hour drive home with all of those injuries was miserable. Had the first doctor been competent it wouldn't have been nearly as bad.

Heal up!

Car audio is something. Listening to the sound quality cars are something, and though I said earlier that sound quality will never approach home stuff, it's still amazing what can be done.

Those bass guys are weird.

I thought it was American Medical Association? We use their guidelines to review "ratings" for body parts all the time.

I agree, a good home system will always beat a good car system. Too many obstacles in a car including screwed up speaker locations.
