Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

That's what the guys in the shop will do anyway if it's any kind of heat-resistant (BBQ) paint. The detail is in the masking to avoid overspray.

Exactly. I'm betting the rear of the system gets dropped from the hangers, and lots of masking paper is used.

So, took an audible for today and went down to San Antonio and traded the Prius on a barely-used GX460. It is, ah, slightly different. Trying to fit it in the garage tomorrow will be fun...

Congrats!

Remember when SUVs were evil? I bought a Grand Cherokee in 2000 and a couple friends threatened to never ride with me. Bought my wife an Acura RDX last year and none of my riding buddies said a word.

Nice. It's likely a bit like steering an ocean liner in comparison.

I actually do feel a bit guilty about the fuel economy, but dangit, I drove that Prius for quite a while, and I don't drive much.

As for the driving experience, yeah, it's different. It's oddly quite competent (not like the Prius handles well, though its turning circle is smaller) because of the KDSS, and when you put your foot down it MOVES. And is wonderfully quiet.

It's also the first time I've bought the car that I wanted instead of going for one that's cheaper and leaves me feeling unsatisfied for years. My hope is to keep it long-term, since it should be able to handle anything I could possibly need. The drive to Boulder will certainly be nicer than the Prius would have been.

Lost how? Knocked off while the bike was on the rack? Dropped somewhere? It doesn't sound like it's just around your house, but it's not an easy kind of thing to misplace while outside...
