Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Team Formagio jerseys

OK, time to fess up, how many of you have bought and / or actually wear the retro-spoof Formaggio jerseys?

I have two that I have been using for a while, the 1977 Raleigh one and an undated dark blue & white one. I just bought the 1972 blue one and an undated Milremo one. I'm thinking of getting the 1964 Molteni one and the 1965 white WC one.

I feel that they are well made nice replicas of the color schemes of the 60s & 70s and it lets me keep my actual real originals from the time period safe in the closet.

Here are the ones I have / just bought:

My wife bought me one when I first started riding. It was the same as the one on the top left.

I used it for a couple of years, but then I lost weight it was way too big.

I love these. The inclusion of random pasta names is a nice touch.

I've got one in the Italian flag colors, marked Parmegiano, but I seldom wear it. A little Parmesan goes long way.

That's the team Italy one. If I had an italian frame, I'd get that one. I still might. Actually If I had the money to waste, I'd get them all, because they are so cheesy.

I showed them to my sister when she was visiting from SF and she noticed all the italian cheeses and pastas but didn't get the joke until I told her. She has an old Motebecane mixte frame from the early 80s, but it needs all new rubber and cabling, and probably a new chain and freewheel.

The last one, black, red & yellow with 1977 is the Team Raleigh Jersey from when they won the Tour de France in 1977. The same year my bike was made.

Amazon sells some styles, world jerseys has their own site, ebay is goodfor used ones, especially the out of print ones. E-cycling sells them. That's where i got my 1972 blue one.

Lots of different beer ones, etc. World Jerseys even has a giant nuke-em design with a huge mushroom cloud if that's your fancy.

They had a Cadillac jersey a few years ago, I'm trying to find that one.

Yeah I read that post as well. Only a select few outside of the long time cycling peeps will ever get it. That's what makes them fun to wear.

I looked at the link. The red-green-white team italy one is only $35. It's not at the top of my buy next list but maybe...
