Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I had to work this weekend so I didn't get much riding in. I was able to get about 13 miles in Saturday morning. Took the '99 Trek 800 on the gravel MUP through Wissahickon Park in Philadelphia. Very peaceful and a nice workout.

So getting back into cycling after a long hiatus (kid and MC accident) I set a goal to hit by the end of summer: A metric century.

Coming from a cold start it seemed a good goal... I was wrong.

Because I am about 4 months ahead of schedule!

70.55 miles today, 13.8 MPH average.

Farmlands

Well this week we decided to take a break from the hills. Headed down to Central Jersey to do the Farmlands Century.
Nice flat area to ride. After the ride we decided to take a little extra and pedal down to the coast. BIG Mistake. Winds were blowing from the south at 22mph.

Was another great day on the bike
