Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Flouro Gilet/Vest with Highly Breathable Back?

Looking for a flouro vest or gilet with windblock across the front and highly breathable across the whole back.

Wind block fabric on part of the back or mesh panels only on the sides are not going to cut it. The garment needs to block wind at the front and vent large amounts of heat and perspiration out the back.

Rain protection is not a concern.

I love the Morvelo Hemisphere Gilet and already own two but don't like the style of their flouro offering.Anyone using the newest version of the Castelli Perfetto? How does it vent at the back? What is Nano Flex Light?Anything else out there in flouro which will exhaust heat out the back?

I've got the Pactimo Breckenridge vest and I really like it. It's really wind resistant in the front and the back breathes well. I can't comment on the visibility of it other than the pictures, mine's part of some team kit.

I sized down to keep it snug which might have been a bit of a mistake, the neck ended up being annoying that way - it's the same windproof material as the rest of the front and is like wearing a starched collar when it's zipped up all the way, but that wouldn't be an issue if I had ordered my actual size.

It does have nice pockets.

@kc0bbq, that is a perfect suggestion. Thanks!

Holding out to see if there are other suggestions.

Louis Garneau Nova - I think they may have discontinued the bright yellow, but can probably still find them out there. Has pockets and full mesh back. I usually wear this on colder days I'm not likely to take it off - not the most packable.

If you don't mind ordering from UK I just got one of these (in black) that I really like: Altura Etape Gilet that saved my butt a couple weeks ago on what turned out to be an unseasonably chilly and rainy ride. Full mesh back. Comes in FL yellow too. Size down 1 if you want race fit.

Rapha Brevet

reflective stripes, the yellow is pretty bright, mesh upper shoulder & sides... i was riding at 70°F yesterday at one point with it on over a rapha classic jersey and wasn't too hot even though I was in direct sun.

I've got a bright green older version that can be seen super far away (my kids identified me from over 1/2 mile)

No but I saw it in the news and it was clearly relevant, even if not "the" answer.

From the model to the name, they are trying to be Assos.

Yeah, we had Hincapie as our team clothing supplier for many years and I really loved the vests. Windproof in the front, mesh in the back, reflective collars, pockets, and two-way zippers. I'll hold on to these forever.

We now have Castelli. I really like most of the stuff, but the vests not so much.
