Laced up my new Brooks B17. Wow!
Why? Because I weigh 240. I saw that the side flanges were really splaying out and allowing the entire top to flatten out behind the narrow portion, rather than my sit bones having a chance to indent the leather. Result was extra pressure on the paranial area.
So I laced the flanges together in a couple of spots and went for a ride.
This was the first time I've ever ridden where there was absolutely no pain, just pressure on the sit bones.
I'm really excited about this level of comfort and would encourage other phat riders to give consideration to the Brooks B17.

Lacing does work for some riders. I haven't had to do that on my Pro, (I'm about 206 lbs.) but I just got in a B17 Narrow and the thing is already pushing outward at the skirts to where they even rub the inside of my legs. I haven't ridden it 10 miles yet and only 1 coat of Proofide! It's got a comfortable shape to it though which fits me better than the Pro.
They must tan or treat the leather differently on these two models, because they look to be the same thickness but the B17N has a lot more give to it. At least the one I have does.
I'd like to find a Brooks model with the flatter top/similar width as a B17N with the support of a Pro. I think the Colt might be the closest to a happy medium.
