Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

No pretty clearly a large water bottle didn't cost $4.95 as it was marked.

Nope the sales recipt actually shows $6 for each cage and $3 for the bottle plus $0.90 in sales tax. I don't know if it was just him being a friend or if they do that for everyone but I was happy as I thought I was spending more like $25.

Lucky guy. I just spent over $2500 on a bike at a shop and asked if they'd do a 10% discount on accessories (many of the local shops do that, even on $200 bikes).

Nope, sorry. We can't do that.

They didn't even include a water bottle or cage. Nice.

We atill pay taxes for healthcare here, the taxes for it go up, and what is covered goes down. I am lucky to be in the miltary, and be covered 100%(to a point) for free, but even still, I still pay taxes for the provicial health care system, it sucks.

Yeah, me neither. Though I really can't bash the place, since technically these things are "extras." The shop owner is a nice enough guy, and his shop is the only one in a higher-class suburb, so it's not like he's gonna lose all his customers by being a bit of a miser.

Unfortunately for me, his was the only shop withiin a 2 hour radius that sold Gunnars.

Tell me about it.

5mm H2O Cage $4.99 (Qty 2): $9.98
Subtotal: $1,639.97
8.25% Tax: $135.30

...

Learning which shop NOT to return to after trashing the water cages and selling the bike on ebay...priceless!

At my LBS a couple days ago I went in and bought 3 Hammer Gels and they were priced at $1.19 each. My bike mechanic rung me up, I gave him a five dollar bill and he gave me back $2 said that would be close with my discount. I have never bought a bike from them. I did use to work with my Bike Mechanics mom. Yesterday I had broke a spoke on my back wheel that they had made me a couple months ago. I also had a bad spot on the tire so I went ahead and bought a new tire. They installed a new spoke, trued the wheel and changed the tire and only charged me the price of the tire. Maybe they give a discount on acessories such as the hammer gel. I do know I will buy my next bike there. They take care of me everytime I go there.
