Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

What are your goals? What kind of riding do you do? Why do you want a new bike? What does "cheep" mean? All the usual questions.

They all make great bikes, just go to shops and test ride. Don't buy a bike that you haven't test ridden, if a shop won't like you test ride, forget them, they don't deserve your money. A good shop should be able to find a bike within your budget and needs, or at least point you in the right direction.

I don't understand how shops expect someone to buy something as personal as a bicycle without trying it first. One person may find a bike to be supremely comfortable, another unyielding uncomfortable brick.

I think the best way for you to find a bike, is to start asking around and reading reviews of what shops are good to deal with. For example, Ace Wheelworks and Belmont Wheelworks in MA are great, someone will come ask if you need help quick, find something that meets your requirements, set the bike up for you test ride with, great people.

Aluminum frame shimano 150

Caad 9-10
Specialized Allez
Trek 1.1 1.2 2.1
Etc..

Stuff like this is the best bang for buck imo.. good resale value hassle free and good enough quality to do pretty much anything.
