A nice side benefit of my goal of riding some distance every day this month is that apparently I've lost a bit of weight (down 10lbs since March) and gained a bit of strength and AVERAGE SPEED. Managed 20.5 mph today for 22 miles without really feeling like I was trying. Consistency is key I guess. Still get droped by the fast dudes though.
I've started eating more protein and am chasing 15mph, in my older age.

Good club ride today. Started off with too many riders (about 25) so we sent the A riders ahead, but only about 5, so the rest of us kept it civilized.
One guy had a blowout flat which we discovered was due to a 1 inch gash in the sidewall, he popped his spare tube so I gave him mine and explained how to use a dollar bill for a boot. He has spinergy deep section wheels so my 50mm valve stem barely poked through the rim. Luckily I keep a valve extender in my pocket so he was able to get tire inflated and limp home.
It's so interesting to observe how much (or how little) my fellow cyclists know about bike repair. Some know a ton. Some are clueless. I would like to think I am in the middle.

I got a 65 on VeloVol's quiz thing, despite having chosen NKOTB. I think it was the Laverne and Shirley and American Bandstand choices that did it for me. Slightly more than double my actual age.
It's my nephew's first birthday party today. Wish I could have gotten out for a ride, because I really need a drink. Y'all have a good day.
Edit: Wait, I've been meaning to ask this without having to start another helmet thread- none of the LBSs around me sell Smith helmets and I'm looking to upgrade to something other that Bell. Can anyone here give me some idea of how comfortable they are (maybe on a scale of 1-10?)? Are the chin straps really mediocre as I've read on Amazon, and is there anything about their sizing or shape that I should take into consideration?
Re-edit: Never mind, I'll start a thread.

Or just tell me to start a thread and I'll see how much info I can glean before it gets shut down/runs off the rails.

I find that after 6 days, my will to pedal disappears.

Unless it's an issue you've had a problem with (and I don't have many problems) why bother learning?

Ha. Yeah, that's all that's available. They're closing out stuff to make room for new models (that's what they say - I hope they're not folding). People on their email list were also sent a 25% off code ("evolve") on top of the sale price.

I have a teammate who is averaging 400 mile weeks. Someone always has more time and dedication.

Chapeau.
If you haven't already, watch the last 5 laps of the Austrian MotoGP race. It's even better in Italian-

Not all of them that she buys. I bought some organic non-gmo bananas from Costco and they never did develop any taste. Whatever strain they used for those was definitely tasteless.
