If i don't over tighten the Quick Release my road bike makes some noises
I really wondered why my road bike was creaking. Over the years I thought it was the crank set but no. Now I discovered that If I don't over tighten the Quick release the creaks come out when I pedal hard.
What do you think is that problem?
Thanks guys

These skewers are pretty good at solving problems like that. They come on both Ti and Al. Not your typical lever actuated version. A lot easier to get them nice and tight.

If tightening your skewers fixes the problem, replacing them with new skewers is just going to give you clean skewers that have to be just as tight.

If they are junk it doesn't matter how new they are; they are still junk. Yours may or may not be junk, though. None of us can say if you are over- or under-tightening either. But given that going tighter fixes the creak I am inclined to think that you've now figured out what proper tightness is.

Yeah! thank god for that. You know that feeling when you want to go faster but you can't because of that creaking XD
Thanks man!

Yes, I had similar noises with my HED skewers. At first, to fix it, I just had to tighten them a little more. The creak started to come back later.
I disassembled the quick release and greased the threads and oiled the pivot arm's axle.
Wiped off the dropout surfaces.
I had to use a bit of thin grease on the plastic surface the cam rotates on. I think that was the source of the noise.
It's been quiet since then.

How tight is " overtight"
It should take enough pressure to tighten the QR lever that it leaves an impression on your palm.

All skewers are not created equal. I never had a problem until I got really stiff wheels.

I have the exact same problem and thought it was the BB or crank or.... Finally traced it to the front skewer but after a couple of rides, it always loosens up again. I'll try the disassembly, but I guess it might be time to replace the skewer. Only about 18 months old but the wheels survived a pretty good crash.

How about telling us what quick-release skewer you’re using. Shimano ones, which use an internal cam, are much better than most. I’ve never seen a good external-cam one. Fancy wheels often come with external-cam skewers.
With clean and lubricated Shimano skewers, and clean dropouts, not much force is needed. You’re probably going too tight if you don’t feel a distinct over-cam sensation during tightening. You’re too loose if there is movement between hub and dropout as indicated by noises while riding.
Note that cup-and-cone hubs must be adjusted for bearing preload with the QR tension taken into account.

How do you decide a skewer is overtightened? I tighten as much as I can and still close. Seems to work.

First port of call: clean and grease+oil, as already stated.
The mother of all solutions: DT Swiss RWS skewers.

My bike made a creak when climbing hills, thought it was the BB30 crank. I brought it in to the LBS for a quick lookover. The owner examined it, torqued on the crank, no issues. Checks rear skewer, says not tight enough. I was surprised to see how tight he wanted it to be. Never another creak from my bike.
